[ THE CLUB ]
It started with 4 peopleand a lamppost.
Ironpace is a run club with a strength floor attached, in the arches under the old goods line. Six years in, it is still built on the same rule it was invented for: nobody finishes alone.
- Arch 14, under the goods line
- Running since 2019
- 312 on the roster
We do not time the social run. We do not publish a leaderboard. We wait at the corner — every corner — until the last person turns it, and then we run on together.
[ WHAT WE DON'T DO ]
Three things we left out.
Most of what makes a club feel like a competition was a choice somebody made. We made the other one, three times.
- No leaderboard. Times are yours, and we never post them.
- No class packs. One flat rate covers every session in the week.
- Your first kilometre is the assessment, and a coach runs it with you.
[ THE COACHES ]
Three people who know your name.
All three coach and all three train here. You will meet whoever is leading the session you turn up to.

[ SIX YEARS ]
How it got here.
Four moments, none of them a rebrand.
Four people and a lamppost
A Tuesday loop of the park with a route drawn on the back of a receipt. The lamppost on the corner was the regroup point, and it still is.
The strength floor
We took the room above the arch and put six racks in it, then spent a year teaching the barbell to runners who had never held one.
Nine pace groups
The Tuesday run split properly for the first time, from 4:30 per kilometre down to a run-walk that finishes the same route. Nobody has been dropped since.
Three hundred and twelve
Six coached sessions a week, one flat membership, forty-one first marathons, and the same coffee stop on Sundays.
